The STA is overseen by a Board of Directors and decisions are made on a one member, one vote basis.
The Board is supported by the STA team and a number of Working Groups which each focus on key areas such as rooftop PV, solar thermal, policy, public relations, new build and the grid.

The STA Executive
Paul joined the STA as CEO in March 2012, following 18 months as a renewable energy consultant.
Prior to that he was a senior oil trader with a successful track record of trading and marketing energy derivatives at JP Morgan, RBS Sempra, Bank of America, Koch and Goldman Sachs.
As CEO Paul has overseen the rapid growth of the STA and established it as the voice of solar in the UK, leading on key policy issues such as the influential work on retaining the Feed-In Tariffs, the integration of variable renewables into the electricity system plus key wins on VAT and business rates for export solar.
Head of External Affairs
Leonie Greene was previously Head of External Affairs at the Renewable Energy Association between 2007 and 2013. Before that she was Political Adviser at Greenpeace, initiating their Decentralised Energy campaign. She also worked for the Deputy Mayor of London on Sustainable Development and the conception of the London Climate Change Agency.
Chris has 25 years’ experience in advocacy, policy research, thought leadership and campaigning on a wide variety of sustainability, energy and environmental issues. He was Head of Climate Change for the Environment Agency, providing advice to Government on climate change mitigation and adaptation. He has worked for a number of leading NGOs & government agencies, including successful advocacy for the Green Investment Bank at Green Alliance, global aviation research for the Committee on Climate Change, and more recently leading policy and advocacy for the Finance Innovation Lab.
Policy and Business Analyst
Isabella is responsible for the trade body’s Scottish branch, STA Scotland. She has worked at the STA for 2 years and has been in charge of new build, solar thermal and STA Scotland; she is also responsible for two EU-funded projects looking at PV Financing and LabelPack A+. Has recently taken on the executive support for Large Scale Grid Storage and provides support on grid issues. Studied Environmental Management at University of Leeds where she discovered her passion for solar.
Before joining the STA, Aleksandra completed a Masters in Energy, Trade and Finance at Cass Business School in London. Her research there on the application of market-based, off-grid Solar PV in refugee camps earned her a UK graduate start-up scheme. Prior to her studies, she produced market intelligence reports focused mainly on energy commodities, renewables and pharmaceuticals in seven countries across South East Asia, Northern Europe and the Middle East.
Membership and Communications Executive
Holly is an Environmental Science graduate from the University of East Anglia, where she also did a Master’s in Environmental Science Masters. Throughout her studies she specialised in community energy, systems and behaviour change. After graduation she worked for 10:10 Climate Action, a positive and proactive climate change charity, as a communications intern.
