STA Conference, Exhibition and Dinner

Mass Market Solar; setting targets for growth

"The event for the Solar Thermal Industry in the UK"

This conference aims to present, discuss and debate the above issues so that the solar thermal industry can continue to develop and implement its vision for a low carbon Britain with solar as the starting point for building integrated renewables on all UK homes, businesses and other alternative uses. It wants to establish targets that the solar industry can sign up to so that we all implement this sustainable future.

In various recent consultations, the UK Government has responded to the call for 15% of British energy needs to come from renewables by 2020 by changing its mindset on solar thermal and other renewable technologies. Original policies such as Clear Skies and LCBP targeted thousands of homes whilst newer initiatives such as the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) and Zero Carbon Homes (ZCH) target millions of homes.

At the same time, support systems for growth such as training, public awareness and accreditation are being reviewed and implemented; sometimes effectively and at other times with policy duplication and overlap with resulting market place confusion. And also for the solar thermal industry, so called consultants produce reports without consultation showing very limited vision for the truly zero carbon future UK requirements.

Confirmed Speakers:

Hergan Haye - DECC'Implementation of the Renewable Heat Incentive'

Jacqueline Crawford - Chair of CPF and OFTEC Cheif Executive - 'Bringing MCS and CPS together'

Griff Thomas - GTEC TrainingObtaining MCS; the benefits, the cost implications, and optimum route (is it the best route for the solar industry?)
