National Infrastructure Commission call for evidence – Electricity interconnection and storage

The government announced the creation of the National Infrastructure Commission in October 2015, reporting to the Treasury.  Its first act was to launch a call for evidence on 13 November, focusing on transport and energy.  The section on energy asked questions about balancing supply and demand within the electricity market, the role of interconnection and the barriers to the deployment of energy storage capacity.  The call closed on 8th January 2016 and the STA’s response can be downloaded through the link below.  The National Infrastructure Commission issued a further consultation on 8th January, covering the governance, structure and operation of the Commission, closing on 17 March 2016.
