Solar Independence Day is the UK’s annual solar celebration showcasing solar homes, solar schools, commercial solar rooftops and solar farms.

If you want to come and learn more about solar, you can visit a local solar farm, big rooftop installation or showhome near you. Here is the list of open day sites for the public. Click on the orange links below to register to attend.

If you have solar on the roof of your own home, get involved on Twitter, Facebook and on Generaytor. The hashtag is #SolarIndependence and we would love it if you could tweet about how much your solar system has generated on either the Friday or the Saturday.

Demand Energy Equality are holding a Solar Independence Day ‘Build your own solar charger’ workshop in Bristol on Friday 3 July, as part of their partnership with the Bristol Drugs Project for recovering drug and alcohol addicts.

A few days after Solar Independence Day, on Tuesday 7 July, the UK’s first ever solar home, the Oxford Ecohouse, will be marking its 20th anniversary in a ‘1 to 1million British solar citizens’ event. This is an invitation-only event, please get in touch if you would be interested in attending.

MPs around the country will be visiting solar homes and solar farms in their constituencies.
