The STA is overseen by a Board of Directors and decisions are made on a one member, one vote basis.
The Board is supported by the STA team and a number of Working Groups which each focus on key areas such as rooftop PV, solar thermal, policy, public relations, new build and the grid.

The STA Executive
Chris has 25 years’ experience in advocacy, policy research, thought leadership and campaigning on a wide variety of sustainability, energy and environmental issues. He was Head of Climate Change for the Environment Agency, providing advice to Government on climate change mitigation and adaptation. He has worked for a number of leading NGOs & government agencies, including successful advocacy for the Green Investment Bank at Green Alliance, global aviation research for the Committee on Climate Change, and more recently leading policy and advocacy for the Finance Innovation Lab.
Head of Business Development and Marketing
Cherry has over 20 years’ experience in building partnerships and coalitions for influence in sectors including environmental services, social enterprise and electrical engineering, heading up high-impact teams at the Press Association, Social Enterprise UK and Electrical Safety First. More recently, she led on partnerships for an ambitious business scaling programme run by UnLtd and served her local community as a local councillor in Greenwich.
She is an ILM-certified leadership coach and holds a BSc in International Studies and a PG diploma in Public Relations.
Cam has over a decade of experience in environmental advocacy, campaigning, and policy development. His background is in land management and conservation, with a focus on conservation funding. Prior to joining the STA, he was Head of Policy at National Parks England and spent 5 years as a Government Relations and Budget Specialist at The Wilderness Society in Washington, D.C.
He holds an MSc in Environmental Policy and Management from the University of Bristol, and a BA in Sociology from the University of Pittsburgh.
Senior Policy Analyst
Gemma holds a BA from Durham University and an MSc in Public Policy from UCL, during which her studies focused on regulation, climate change and the media’s influence on environmental behaviour.
Before joining the STA, Gemma worked as a Regulatory Analyst at Solarplicity, a renewable energy supplier and solar PV installer.
External Affairs Adviser
Jack joined the STA in 2018, having previously undertaken communications and partnership-oriented roles at CDP and the Climate Disclosure Standards Board.
Holding a Bachelors in Journalism and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Sustainability and Environmental Management, Jack is also an accredited Practitioner member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
Rachel holds a BSc from the University of Hull and a MSc in Environment and Development from the University of Leeds. Her studies centered around climate change mitigation, policy and governance and international relations.
Prior to her position at the STA, Rachel worked with a variety of NGO’s and independent charities. Most recently undertaking an internship as a technical scoring officer at CDP.
Business Engagement Officer
Kara holds and BA in International Relations and an MSc in International Development, Conflict and Security from the University of Bristol. Kara’s academic background fostered a profound interest in the interrelated environmental and human rights challenges and opportunities facing global society.
Before joining the STA Kara worked for various environmental campaigns as an marketing assistant. Kara’s last role was as a Social Media Adviser to The Commitment, a start-up climate change initiative.
