RenewableUK – Solar Trade Association Storage Working Group

This will be the first meeting of the joint RUK-STA Storage Working Group.

We have established this group to bring together storage investors, developers and supply chains to explore the challenges facing deployment of storage onto the system in the UK.I am delighted to confirm that the Working Group will be co-chaired by Matt Allen, CEO, Pivot Power, and Roberto Castiglioni, Managing Director & CEO, Ikigai Capital.

Large-Scale PV Working Group

The STA Large-Scale PV working group leads on building a more favourable regulatory environment for existing assets, improving market conditions for new solar farm development, and maximising value from large-scale PV through innovative approaches to asset management. A key recent focus has been our work with Distribution Network Operators on mitigation of network outages during peak production periods.

O&M Working Group

This Working Group is focused on establishing and advancing O&M standards and best practices across the ground-mount and large-scale rooftop PV industries. Key priorities include operational health and safety; performance optimisation; data management, monitoring and communication; and environmental stewardship.

Local Authority Steering Group

Solar, storage and smart energy management empower local people and organisations. Investment in these technologies is essential if local leaders are to tackle climate change, improve air quality and facilitate the transition to a smart energy system. This STA Local Government Group leads on discussing and determining the key strategic opportunities in this sector.

STA Scotland Working Group

STA Scotland, a sub-committee of the STA Board of Directors, coordinates the work of the STA in Scotland. The branch is helping to shape policy decisions that will enable Scotland to fully realise its potential for solar and storage applications within the electricity, heat and transport sectors. The working group focuses on removing barriers such as business rates, grid constraints, building standards, and planning frameworks and has a track record of delivering material outcomes to industry.

Solar Heat Working Group

The Solar Trade Association Solar Heat Working Group (STA Solar Heat WG) brings together the STA members that have an interest in the use of solar energy for thermal processes, i.e. solar heating or cooling. The STA Solar Heat WG provides STA members with a platform to engage constructively with HM Government on policy, stimulate collaborative innovation, promote public understanding of the use of solar energy for thermal processes and facilitate good industry practice.

Residential Energy Storage Working Group

The STA Residential Energy Storage working group aims to responsibly and sustainably grow the residential and commercial storage market by supporting different business models and increasing connections with the broader smart power industry, such as EVs and smart home appliances. Regulatory clarity, including the VAT and business rates treatment of storage features heavily in the sessions. The group also discusses design and installation standards, grid-related issues including charging and metering, aggregation services and the development of new storage-enabling tariffs.

PV Rooftop Working Group

The STA PV Rooftop and Storage Working Group leads on the domestic and commercial rooftop market. It discusses cost reductions, stakeholder engagement, impacts of Feed-in Tariff and Renewables Obligation policy and produces guides to help installers. The group also discusses technical issues surrounding G83, G59, MCS standards and fire safety standards.

Rooftop O&M Working Group

This Working Group brings together leaders in the O&M sector to facilitate discussion around key issues in the maintenance of Rooftop PV.

New Build Working Group

  • January 7th - 14:00-17:00
  • Venue: Gowling WLG

The STA New Build Working Group leads on increasing deployment of solar PV and solar thermal on new build domestic and commercial buildings. We work with the government, the construction industry and the public to make sure that solar is they key solution to sustainable buildings.
