- Organiser: Solar Trade Association
- Venue: London's Living Room, City Hall
Believe it or not, this year the STA is celebrating its 40th anniversary at the forefront of the UK solar transformation. So for our showcase event of 2018 we will be gathering, with friends and colleagues, to celebrate the growth of solar energy in the UK and looking at what the future has in store.
Solar energy started as a pioneering niche technology with very little impact on the UK energy system, but in the last decade, the costs have plummeted, innovation has flourished and there is now nearly 13GW of solar capacity in UK and a million solar roofs. The next decade will see solar, alongside other decentralised renewable technologies and energy storage, move firmly into the mainstream. New business models, innovations and a fast maturing sector will make solar even more accessible in the UK, against a backdrop of global expansion of the technology.
Please put this date in your diaries and be ready to join us for a fabulous summer reception overlooking the London skyline, which will also feature a panel debate with some of the most influential voices in energy to showcase the solar industry of today, while providing a glimpse of where it is going.
Speaking on the day will be Jeremy Leggett, one of the key founders of the solar sector in the UK, and Shirley Rodrigues, London's Deputy Mayor for Environment and Energy, with a line-up of great panelists including:
Chair: Tom Heap, Science, Environment & Rural Affairs Presenter, BBC
Sara Vaughan, Director of Political & Regulatory Affairs, E.On
Sam Kimmins, Head of RE100, The Climate Group
Polly Billington, Director, UK100 local authority network
