Investing In A Net Zero Carbon Future

Partner Event

September 9th - 11:00-14:00

  • Organiser: Energy Networks
  • Venue: Burges Salmon LLP

Hosted by Burgess Salmon LLP, Chaired by eminent economist Dimitris Zenghelis and in conjunction with Dr Alison Green's Transition Lab, Energy Connectors LTD offers an opportunity to attend ‘Investing In A Zero Carbon Future’ mini conference.

This series of events of two 45-minute Panel Discussions (separated by a 45-minute networking lunch) brings together Investors, Fund Managers, Economists, Scientists, Climate Change Experts, Corporate Lawyers, Tax Specialists, Government & IPCC Policy Advisors and gives voice to renewables, nuclear and oil majors who are investing, researching and developing toward a zero-carbon future.

Today the European Investment Bank has vowed to end its multibillion-euro financing for fossil fuel projects by the end of 2020 in order to align its strategy with climate targets.

Investors and asset owners that are serious about considering climate-change risk recognise that more regulation and pressure is coming. Investors must therefore be prepared.

The world and the investment landscape have changed dramatically in the past five years. One of the major developments has been the emergence of ESG integration & Impact Investment, climate risk and transitioning to a low-carbon economy as important points of focus for investors, policy makers and companies alike.

Today, an onslaught of sustainability challenges exists due to policy, technological or climatic changes – and they are happening faster and more dramatically than many could have anticipated.

A slew of corporate scandals that have weighed heavily on share price performance, including Volkswagen’s cheating in emissions tests and Facebook’s data privacy breach, in the past five years have also highlighted the importance of – and accelerated the push towards – ESG integration & Impact Investing in investment decisions.
