Following on from the inaugural successful Smart Energy conference in 2018, NIRIG will host Smart Energy 2019 on 10 April at the MAC Belfast. As the key renewables event in Northern Ireland it brings together practitioners, industry representatives and policy-makers to engage on current issues of interest to the sector and respond to the new challenges and opportunities facing the energy industry.
A team of experts will debate our future energy strategy to 2030 and assess the coordination and engagement that will be required to deliver on the next phase of the energy transition. As well as growing renewable electricity, we will have to accelerate decarbonisation in heat and transport, bringing together disparate stakeholders to plan for and deliver on the low-carbon economy
2019 will be a crucial year for the low-carbon sector in NI as we assess whether our renewable targets will be met and plan out the next phase of our energy transition. The fluid political context cannot distract us from the opportunities for clean growth. Northern Ireland needs to step up efforts to deliver low-carbon electricity to benefit consumers, businesses and society.
